SecurePledge

Setup steps

Follow the steps for whichever one you downloaded. Each one has its own section below.

SecurePledge Protector for Chrome

  1. Download the file from the previous page and unzip it (double-click it in Finder or File Explorer, or right-click and choose "Extract").
  2. Open Chrome. In the address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter.
  3. In the top right, turn on Developer mode.
  4. Click Load unpacked, then select the folder you just unzipped. The SecurePledge icon will appear in your browser's toolbar.
  5. Click the SecurePledge icon, type your email and password, and click Sign in. That's it, protection is active.
This way of installing is meant for trying it out. For everyday use across a team, your organization would normally offer this through the Chrome Web Store instead.

SecurePledge Protector for Mac

  1. Download the .pkg file from the previous page.
  2. Open it. Since this app hasn't gone through Apple's official review yet, your Mac will warn you and refuse to open it normally. To open it anyway: find the file in Finder, hold the Control key and click it, choose Open, then click Open again in the dialog that appears.
  3. Follow the installer's steps.
  4. Partway through, your Mac will ask to let SecurePledge use Accessibility. Say yes. This is what lets it notice when you're about to send a message, so it can check the message first.
  5. Last step, connect your account: open Terminal (press Command+Space, type "Terminal", press Enter). Copy and paste the line below, then press Enter:
    "/Library/Application Support/SecurePledge/enroll.sh"
It will ask for a web address (your organization will give you this), then your email and password. Until this step is done, SecurePledge plays it safe and blocks everything rather than risk letting something through unchecked.
The warning in step 2 is expected. This app hasn't gone through Apple's official app review yet, so your Mac treats it cautiously by default, the same way it would for any app installed outside the App Store. You'll also need to sign in again about once a week to keep protection active.

To remove SecurePledge later: open Terminal the same way as above, paste this, and press Enter: sudo "/Library/Application Support/SecurePledge/uninstall.sh"

SecurePledge Protector for Windows

  1. Windows needs one more free Microsoft program first, the ".NET 8 Desktop Runtime". If you're not sure whether you have it, install it anyway, it's safe to run even if already installed: search " .NET 8 Desktop Runtime download " or ask whoever manages your computer to install it for you.
  2. Download both files from the previous page: the .msi installer and enroll.ps1.
  3. Double-click the .msi file and approve the prompt. Since this app hasn't gone through Microsoft's official review yet, you'll see a blue screen warning you about it. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. Follow the installer's steps.
  5. Last step, connect your account: right-click the Start button, choose Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin), and approve the prompt. Copy and paste the line below (adjusting the path to wherever you saved enroll.ps1, usually your Downloads folder), then press Enter:
    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "C:\Users\YourName\Downloads\enroll.ps1"
It will ask for a web address (your organization will give you this), then your email and password. Until this step is done, SecurePledge plays it safe and blocks everything rather than risk letting something through unchecked.
The warning in step 3 is expected. This app hasn't gone through Microsoft's official app review yet, so Windows treats it cautiously by default. You'll also need to sign in again about once a week to keep protection active.

To remove SecurePledge later: open PowerShell as Administrator the same way as above, paste this, and press Enter: Get-Package "SecurePledge Agent" | Uninstall-Package. If that doesn't work, use Settings, then Apps, then find SecurePledge Agent and choose Uninstall.
